Introduction to Computers

Monday 2 May  6.00pm-8.30pm 8 sessions

This course is designed for complete beginners. After eight weeks you will feel confident and able to find your way around the computer. Learn to create new documents, Email, Save your work, and use the Internet. No prior experience needed.

Gmail

Friday 6   May 9.30 – 12.00pm 3 Sessions or Friday 27th May 9.30 – 12pm 3 Sessions

Gmail is a fantastic, user friendly web based email Program provided free by Google.

In this class you will create your own Gmail account. Learn how to set up preferences including background image or pattern and keyboard shortcuts; have your name appear automatically at the bottom of each email you send; send and receive emails including using CC and BCC; attach photo’s or other files to your email; create a contact list and set up an Out of Office automatic reply for when you are away.

An MS Office Excel spreadsheet is a tool that is enables you to work efficiently with numbers and lists. It can be formatted to automatically perform calculations and to sort or find information with ease. These spreadsheets will automatically recalculate every time data is entered or changed and enable you to easily create charts based on information in your spreadsheet.

This free program is extremely user friendly and designed for people with basic computer skills

Take out Red eye with a simple click of the mouse. Crop, Straighten, change to Black and White or Sepia. Organise your photos. Back up your photos. Create a gift CD with a slideshow of photo’s you choose to include. Create collages and Upload your photos to the Internet so other people you tell can go on line and view your photos.

Introduction to MYOB with Bookkeeping Elements version 19

Access

Saturday 7 May 9.30am – 12.00pm 8 sessions

Develop a mailing list of all your clients and/or potential clients you would like to send letters marketing material or newsletters. The tables in the database can be exported to Excel and used in a Mail Merge to send bulk emails or letters. This course also teaches you to use Mail Merge.

Introduction to Photoshop

Gain a good practical knowledge of the basics of the computer program most widely used by graphic designers to manipulate, edit and create “photo-style” images. Become familiar with the powerful tools and features of Photoshop; learn to manipulate photographs and more. Participants must be confident with file management on a PC.

Intermediate Excel

If you already know the basics of Excel this is a great course to follow on with. You will learn how to write complex formulae; Use Functions such as VLookup. Restrict what others can and can’t do in your spreadsheet and more.

The objective of this short course is to give the student a taste of what is involved in developing a small 2D game. Students will complete the course with a basic understanding of programming concepts and their implementation as well as core 2D game mechanics. Students will also finish the course with a completed 2D space game built with the Microsoft XNA framework.
